House-sitters/Caretakers required for 2 weeks on rural property (15th to 28th Feb), 1345 acres. Would suit an very active couple preferably from a rural background with plenty of horse experience, likes dogs and their own transport. We also have an Airbnb on the property (which will be left vacant while we are away), so we have plenty of walking trails and a lovely colony of Mareeba Rock wallabies as we cater to wildlife watchers, birders, photographers and nature lovers.
We have 1 dog, 5 horses and 6 chooks to be cared for and need a person that has a genuine like for and is experienced with these. There are approx 70 head of cattle on the property, but there shouldn't be any need for much input with these. This position would suit a couple from a farming/station background as there may possibly be some basic farm duties.
Though our main concern is for our dog and horses.
We have 5 horses which are usually well-behaved but still need someone who is very experienced, fit and confident with horses. They shouldn't need too much care just feeding and watering and perhaps rugging.... depending on the weather.
The home is a basic but comfortable one bedroom shed-house with stand alone solar and tank water. There is also a one bedroom 'cottage' (pictured) which would be your room if desired. There is plenty of room for a caravan or motor home too, though limited power as only have a small solar system (1.5kw)
The property is 8km from Dimbulah (small town), 55km from Mareeba and 115km from Cairns. We have plenty of wildlife and birds on the property so would also suit nature lovers, bush walkers etc.
We would require references, please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like more information or photos.
