I am taking a break from my farm for the month of October 2024. I have 2 friendly working dogs who need looking after whilst I am abroad, as well as a couple of horses and a small herd of beef cattle which need water troughs filled (electric start bore). Someone familiar with the runnings of a farm would be ideal, as there might be the need to make sure nothing gets onto the road or to run a roundbale out.

You are more than welcome to stay in my old Queenslander farmhouse. There is also plenty of space to park your van or bus and use the water, power, laundry, and kitchen of the farmhouse, if you prefer. Good internet/mobile phone coverage.

My farm is located on the Darling Downs in the picturesque Goomburra Valley, on a sealed road which ends at the Main Range National Park, where there are heaps of bushwalks, also lovely spots along the Dalrymple Creek for relaxing picnics just chilling in the peaceful bush. Natural beauty abounds in the Valley with rugged mountain ranges, spectacular views, trickling streams and rare wildlife all calling this World Heritage listed area home.

Nearby towns include Allora (15km west) and Clifton (35km northwest), with main centres Warwick (26km south) and Toowoomba (73km north). Places of interest in the general area include Glengallan Homestead, the Mary Poppins House, Talgai Homestead, Queen Mary Falls, Darling Downs Zoo, Steele Rudd Homestead, Clifton Historic Museum, Warwick historical houses walk, Cunninghams Gap lookouts and much more. There are plenty of pretty cafes, historic pubs, country stores, scenic tourist drives, lovely countryside, bushwalking and friendly folk to be found in abundance only a short drive away from the central location of my farm. Fishing is a popular sport at Leslie Dam (44km southwest) and other nearby locations. There are weekend markets in various places such as Killarney, Toowoomba, Warwick and Stanthorpe (which also has wineries). Brisbane is only an hour and a half drive away, to the east.
