We've got an exciting opportunity coming up on our family farm later in 2024. With 124 years of history under our belt, we're gearing up for a big family reunion in 2025, and we could use an extra pair of hands (or two) to help us get ready.

What We're Looking For:

We need someone with a green thumb and handy skills who's up for a bit of an adventure. You don't need to be a guru or anything - just someone who appreciates country life, plants, can tell between an Acacia and a weed, and isn't afraid of some honest work.

The Nitty-Gritty:

- We're asking for at least a 3-month commitment. It takes a while to get into the rhythm of farm life at our more relaxed pace!
- You'll be working about 2-4 hours a day, five days a week.
- If you're keen to do more, we can talk about more contra or even payment for extra work.

Your Day-to-Day:

- Tending to our homestead gardens (it's a beauty, but it needs some love)
- General maintenance around the farm
- Helping out with our Airbnb and HipCamp areas where needed.
- Finishing off a bathroom in an onsite caravan (which you'll get to use when it's done!)

Where You'll Call Home:

We've got space for a caravan or RV if you've got one, with all the hookups you need. You'll be sharing a bathroom with our friendly elderly volunteer until that extra bathroom is finished.

Farm Toys (I mean, Equipment):

- Telehandler (crane ticket required to drive it, but not essential for this position)
- Tractor
- Side-by-side and quad bikes
- Shared work vehicles
- We've even got a fancy new spray drone coming soon (but don't worry, that won't be your responsibility)

The Perks of Farm Life:

- 1.5 km of Mitchell River frontage - perfect for a swim or a spot of Bass fishing
- A tranquil place called “crystal hill“ with views that'll take your breath away. If you like spiritual connections, this is on an energy ley(Dream) line through Uluru and to Stone Henge. You can’t get much better than that.
- Morning walks around the farm to start your day right, and if you don’t mind check the cattle on the way 😉

We're Not in the Middle of Nowhere:
- Lindenow Farmers Hotel is just 5km away (great pub meals!)
- There's the Long Paddock Cafe nearby too
- Bairnsdale's about 24km away for your shopping needs
- And Lakes Entrance is only 40 minutes away if you fancy a beach day

The Ideal Candidate:

Someone who knows their plants, can handle a bit of maintenance, doesn't mind farm animals, and can work well with others while also being independent. You'll be working with my mum on the gardening projects (she gives the orders in that part of the farm), and there's another volunteer who helps with the main farm work with me.

Interested? Give us a shout through the Farm Army website. Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're hoping to get out of this experience. We'll set up a video and/or phone chat to make sure we're all on the same page.

We're looking forward to welcoming you to our little slice of paradise and getting ready for that big family shindig in 2025, who knows you may still be here!
